Mmmm....cake...

This is a joyous day, a joyous day indeed. Twenty years ago on this fine day, the eighth of March, Aaron Doss was gracious enough to grace us with his presence. How thankful we should be :)

Happy Birthday Aaron!

Unfortunately for me, this isn't all that joyous of a day...I think it's just one of those days where you wake up on the wrong side of the day: Woke up after less than four hours of sleep (which has been very common the last two weeks), stubbed my foot hardcore style, wandered out into the snow with much much less than adequete clothing (yea for button pants and a t-shirt lol), went to english class far less than adequetly prepared (although got my paper back with a much better than expected grade, and also was offered to help with a project for the universities english department, so thats fun), then took a shower in which the bathroom could definitely be described as trashed, and I then proceeded to bang my elbow against a boiling hot pipe. Good times. The rest of the day hasn't gotten much better. Although my EAS midterm which I was sure I couldn't have gotten higher than a D I ended up with a B+...that was mildly exciting. So maybe I don't get as upset with bad grades as I used to, but it's good to know I can still get excited about good grades.

Well, all my friends I was talking to have left me for a nap. Why oh why can't I nap? *sad face inserted here*

I was going to end it there, but there's not much left to do, so I might as well make this update a little more worth your effort in getting here...

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German man who went on holiday left his stereo and
lights on so that his pet hamster would not feel lonely in the empty apartment,
a police spokesman said on Monday after breaking into it over fears the man may
have died.
The spokesman for police in Bremen said police broke open the door
after being alerted by neighbors that loud music was playing non-stop for five
days and the lights were left on. No one answered the door when they knocked,
police said.
"There was a fear the occupant might have been disabled or
dead," a police spokesman said. "All we found was a pet hamster. The occupant
was away on holiday. A friend of his arrived and said he left the music on so
the hamster wouldn't feel lonely."
The spokesman said the friend of the
occupant, who is still on holiday and not reachable, told police she visited
every few days to feed the golden hamster food and provide water. She promised
to turn the music down and come by more often.

Thats a pretty dern lucky hamster...how nice to be so loved.

KAMPALA (Reuters) - In an effort to boost morale among Uganda's ill-paid
and often corrupt police force, the government has rewarded two officers who
declined bribes and fought off robbers trying to steal exam papers.
Education
Minister Namirembe Bitamazire gave the two constables 500,000 shillings (about
$300) for standing up to the thieves, who targeted a store holding secondary
school papers in central Luweero district, newspapers reported Wednesday.
The
state-owned New Vision said the four robbers first tried to bribe the policemen
guarding the store, but when that failed produced weapons and tried to steal the
tests at gunpoint.
The policemen arrested one of the robbers at the scene and
the others fled -- but were later arrested.
"These officers showed a high
caliber of integrity. They refused a bribe and stood up to the thieves," an
official from the Uganda National Examination Board told the New
Vision.
Uganda's police force is poorly paid, and junior officers often
demand bribes to overlook minor traffic offences.
The robbery attempt took
place in November, days before students were due to sit their exams, the paper
said, and the policemen received their reward Tuesday.

I'm tired. Enjoy the time my kittens.
